FACEGB Alternating Thirds - Guitar tuning, chords & scales

Description - Alternating Thirds

Each adjacent pair is a third apart. The interval alternates between major third and minor third. This tuning facilitates close voicings of common three-note and four-note chords, but is not great for bar chords. Although not completely regular like major thirds tuning, the fretboard has only two different patterns rather than three like standard tuning. Standard-gauge strings may be too slack for the higher strings.
